Habitat For Humanity’s Housing Development Stalled

(Turners Falls, MA) Pioneer Valley Habitat for Humanity’s housing development on First Street in Turners Falls has been given a six month purchase and sale extension for the property after soil testing found six contaminants. The soil samples revealed arsenic, barium, lead, and zinc which may be from construction waste and fill material used to create the parking lot currently on the property. Habitat For Humanity will be exploring options for the site.
