(Greenfield, MA) Thursday evening the Greenfield Planning Board unanimously approved plans for an expansion to the Hampton Inn & Suites on the neighboring lot at 192 Shelburne Road in Greenfield. Jeff Squire from Berkshire Design Group presented the plans on behalf of 66 Greenfield, LLC to the Planning Board in their meeting on Thursday.

The lot at 192 Shelburne Road is a little over a third of an acre and currently has a single family home that will be demolished. The hotel will be adding a four story addition with 24 rooms where there is existing parking and a new parking area will be constructed in the new lot.

There will be a new entrance and exit from Shelburne Road to the parking area and more handicap-designated parking spots. The connection between the new and existing parking lots will be designated for one-way traffic.

No new utilities are proposed as part of the plan as the existing water and sewer systems will accommodate the construction. There will be stormwater infrastructure for the new parking area with a treatment system and those plans have already been reviewed and approved by the Greenfield Department of Public Works.

Lighting came up in the Planning Board discussion. There will be some new lighting added that will be consistent with existing lighting. Also, bicycle racks will be added and directional signage.
