BOSTON, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Governor Healey signed a supplemental budget Friday that includes proposals to reduce the taxpayers’ burden of the state’s Emergency Assistance family shelter system. Also included are the results of a security assessment of the shelters and recommendations to improve safety at shelter sites, such as limiting the policy of presumptive eligibility when placing families, which is expected to be funded by the supplemental budget.
