(Franklin County, MA) This late season snow storm brought high winds and snowfall totals near three feet in some parts of the county. This combination of heavy, wet snow and high winds brought down many trees, impacting power lines and roads. Thousands lost power and many are still without it as Eversource and emergency responders work to repair lines and clear roadways.
In Colrain, some residents reported seeing 36 inches of snow fall. Colrain Fire Department reported road closures around 8 p.m. Tuesday evening including: Franklin Hill Road, past #15; East Catamount Road; Thompson Road, Jurek Road, with others partially blocked. Non-emergencies can call the Fire Department for assistance.
The Deerfield Police Department reported around 100 homes without power around 3 p.m. Tuesday. Like many areas, Eversource has not given an estimate time for power restoration.
Eversource is reporting about 5,500 western Massachusetts customers without power as of 7:15 a.m.
