AMHERST, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — On Saturday, reports came in of a hiker who slid off the trail and down an embankment on Bare Mountain. The hiker was identified as a woman in her 50s.
At least twenty responders from Amherst police and fire, Department of Conservation Services (DCR) rangers, and the Western Mass Technical Rescue Team, located and returned the hiker to safety after approximately four hours of efforts.
