(Holyoke, MA) A veteran resident at the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home has tested for COVID-19 after being clinically recovered according to CDC guidelines. Brooke Karanovich, spokesperson for the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, said individuals who are determined recovered from COVID-19 according to CDC guidance may test positive even after being clinically recovered. The veteran resident who tested positive experienced COVID-19 symptoms was transferred to a hospital for treatment where he tested positive for COVID-19.
“The Home is immediately taking necessary precautions and is performing full-house testing with support from the Massachusetts National Guard,” said Karanovich.
Monday and Tuesday full-house testing was conducted for all residents and staff. Residents are being closely monitored for any sign of COVID-19 and are re-tested if any symptoms appear or re-appear. All residents in the unit where the resident resided are being quarantined.
