(undated) — The Massachusetts House has opened debate on its version of a new police reform bill. Over 200 amendments have been added to the legislation, including one which mandates that no police salary exceed the amount given to the highest paid municipal employee in a city or town. Massachusetts police unions are pushing back against the legislation, which they feel goes too far. Governor Baker so far has not indicated whether he will sign the bill, but says he does support some elements of it, including establishing a police re-certification system.
