GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Franklin County area received from between four and eight inches of snow in Sunday’s winter storm.
According to the National Weather Service in Boston, Ashfield received the highest amount at eight inches of the white stuff. Most of the hilltowns of the West County received similar totals.
In the Pioneer Valley, most communities came in around five inches of snow, including Greenfield at 5.8 inches, Montague at 5.4, and Deerfield at five inches.
In the North Quabbin area, New Salem picked up 5.2 inches, and Orange had five inches.
The coldest air of the winter so far has come in behind the storm. Temperatures are likely to fall below zero Tuesday night, and daytime highs are predicated to be in the teens on Tuesday and Wednesday before temperatures moderate late in the week.
