(Orange, MA) On Tuesday, April 11th, a Red Flag warning was issued in relation to fire danger. As a result, no fire permits for open burns were issued by the Town of Orange. However, a local resident executed an illegal burn resulting in a brush fire that took two outbuildings at a residence in Orange.

Tuesday afternoon at approximately 3 p.m., Orange Fire responded to reports of a brush fire extending to a shed on Cottage Street. The crews found a fully involved shed and a brush fire with the resident using a garden hose to hold back the fire from the home. A second shed was also beginning to catch fire at a neighboring house.

Firefighters from Orange and Athol were able to extinguish the fire, although the first shed and its contents were completely destroyed, and the second shed “is like a total loss as well” according to the Orange Fire Department. No injuries were sustained.
