(Orange, MA) A small fire caused by improper thawing of pipes was quickly extinguished by the Orange Fire Department. On Friday, February 12 at 10:43am, Orange Fire received a call regarding smoke and possible fire in the basement of the building at 136 Brookside Road. Smoke was found in the basement where work had been done to thaw pipes with a blow torch. A fire in the ceiling was quickly extinguished. The smoke was cleared within two hours and no extension was found in the ceiling.
The Orange Fire Department is reminding residents to please use proper methods to thaw pipes or contact local professionals. No injuries were reported due to this fire.
