(Pittsfield, MA) A social media post purporting to show an alligator in Lake Onota last week has garnered some attention. The video, shown here, claims to show an eight foot alligator in Onota Lake in Pittsfield. So far, there is no evidence that an alligator does indeed live in the lake. The caption of the video reads “About eight foot alligator got good video from my boat. They say someone dumped it.” Robert Whitesburk is the man who posted the 34 second video on YouTube. There is no verification at this time that this is indeed an alligator, and if it is an alligator that it was shot at Onota Lake. Franklin County Now was unable to locate Whitesburk for a comment, but calls to Animal Control for an update on the matter are pending.
