GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The vacant former Greenfield Community College Downtown Center may soon be filled. Ja’Duke Inc. is looking to purchase the building at the corner of Main and Davis Streets and convert it into performing arts classrooms, a preschool, and offices for the Ja’Duke Driving School.
Ja’Duke’s owners will appear before the city’s Zoning Board of Appeals on Thursday to present their plans. The company would require a special permit for the preschool, as the property is currently commercially-zoned.
Greenfield Community College officially merged its Downtown Center with the main campus on College Drive in 2022.
Ja’Duke currently runs its performing arts center, preschool, driving school, and a coffee and ice cream shop on Industrial Boulevard in Turners Falls. If the acquisition of the Greenfield site is completed, that space would be an expansion of the Ja’Duke businesses in Turners Falls, not a replacement.
