(Greenfield, MA) Just Roots farm in Greenfield has received $146,000 in a Food Security Infrastructure grant to fund vital infrastructure upgrades including essential renovations on their barn like roof repair, new windows and flooring, and electrical upgrades. The grant comes through the state’s Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs and was announced as part of a $26 million funding initiative to improve food insecurity and resiliency across the state by supporting farms and food-related businesses.
“In the past few months, Massachusetts has seen both droughts and extreme rainfall, record-setting temperatures, and poor air quality,” said EEA Secretary Rebecca Tepper. “The climate crisis is here, and the FSIG program could not be more important. It’s clear that our farmers, fishers, and other organizations in our food system need help building resiliency to these impacts.”
