BOSTON, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles has reversed their ban on Kei vehicles, which are small Japanese vehicles, most popularly the mini-truck, that are relatively inexpensive. The announcement was made at Wednesday’s Massachusetts Department of Transportation Board of Directors meeting where approximately 35 Kei owners were in attendance.

In June, the RMV announced these vehicles would no longer be allowed to be registered for use on roads. After pushback from Kei vehicle owners, the RMV reversed its ruling and announced that starting September 18th, the vehicles would again be allowed to be registered. Kei vehicles previously registered can continue on without disruption according to the RMV.
