(Greenfield, MA) This morning marked the beginning of a new era as Mayor Virginia “Ginny” Desorgher was inaugurated into office along with newly elected city officials. Former City Council President Dan Guin provided opening comments, sharing his experiences from the past twenty years of the city’s Mayoral government system and emphasizing the importance of reaching across the aisle, compromising, and respecting each other, asking officials to “make your agenda ‘Greenfield.'”

After City Clerk Kathy Scott swore in the new Mayor, Mayor Desrogher then swore in the officials including Councilors-At-Large Wahab Shahbaz Minhas and John James Garrett; Precinct 1 City Councilor Katherine Golub; Precinct 2 City Councilor Rachel Gordon; Precinct 3 City Councilor Michael J. Mastrototaro; Precinct 4 City Councilor John R. Bottomley; School Committee Members Amy Prioetti, Stacey Sexton, and Ann Childs; and Assessor Charles Green.

Mayor Desorgher then finished out the ceremony with gratitude for those who have supported her through her campaign and for the newly elected officials “for standing up to help out.” Desorgher said, “Today marks a new chapter… to strive for a city that thrives economically, fosters a sense of belonging and collective wellbeing for all residents…as a vibrant community bound together by far more than what may divide us… Let our journey begin!”
