(Leverett, MA) — It was a long, hot weekend for firefighters in Leverett battling an outdoor fire which has burned at least 55 acres. The fire began Thursday on Joshua Hill and now appears to be contained, according to Leverett Deputy Chief Brian Cook. No structures were threatened by the fire, and crews are expected to continue monitoring the situation for the next couple of days to ensure that there are no new flare-ups.
