(Combined Sources) A local fundraiser that raises money for the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts ended yesterday with a new record in donations. Over $614,000 was raised during Monte’s March which involves WRSI radio personality Monte Belmonte walking 43 miles from Springfield to Greenfield. This year marks the 11th year that Monte has made the walk, pushing a shopping cart for miles just before Thanksgiving. According to Belmonte, the goal, along with raising money for the Food Bank, is to draw attention to the food injustices that people are experiencing in western Massachusetts.
