GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The man who died in the workplace accident on Cleveland Street in Greenfield Friday has been identified as 66 year-old Matthew Nedorostek of Westfield by the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office.
Nedorostek reportedly climbed to the top of the sand-filled silo and fell in at Chicopee Concrete Service. After a lengthy rescue and recovery effort, his body was recovered at approximately 4:30 p.m. Friday.
At Monday’s Greenfield Public Safety Commission meeting, fire chief Robert Strahan commended all of the emergency responders who supported the rescue and recovery efforts for Nedorostek on Friday.
Strahan said it was a “career call” that challenged everyone physically, mentally, and emotionally, with responders disregarding the tremendous risks to their own safety to do all they could to rescue the Westfield man.
