(Bernardston, MA) Bernardston fire chief Peter Shedd said a man was rescued earlier today from a fall down a cliff on River Street in Bernardston. Shedd believes the man has been rescued and the life flight helicopter has left the scene. In addition to Bernardston Fire and Bernardston Police, Greenfield Police and Fire, Amherst Police and Fire, and Massachusetts State Police assisted with the rescue.
According to Bernardston Police, the rescue took place today at 1:25pm after a man working outside went down the other side of the guard rail and fell 4o-45 feet down a vertical embankment. The individual was unable to move and partially in the Fall River. Two members of the Bernardston Fire Department rappelled down to the victim to stabilize him. The Bernardston FD, Western Mass Technical Rescue Team, Northfield FD, Greenfield FD, Turners Falls FD, Northfield EMS, Longmeadow FD, Agawam FD, MassDOT, Northfield Dive Rescue, Greenfield Police Department, and Bernardston Police Department assisted with the rescue.
