GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Elvio Marrero, formerly of Greenfield, was released Tuesday from Franklin County Superior Court after a new trial was ordered when DNA evidence helped overturn his 1995 murder conviction. Marrero worked with the Boston College Innocence Program in his latest appeal to find evidence supporting Marrero’s alibi and the DNA evidence. The DA’s office intends to retry Marrero later this year.
