(Boston, MA) – Massachusetts is now accepting applications for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance. It’s a program for self employed individuals including freelancers, independent contractors, and others who are part of the so-called “gig” economy. PUA is also open to those seeking part-time employment, anyone with an insufficient work history to qualify for benefits, and claimants that have been laid off from churches and religious institutions but are not eligible for benefits under state law. The new program will provide up to 39 weeks of unemployment benefits. To apply online for this form of unemployment assistance, click here.
