(Boston, MA) – Low-income Massachusetts residents are about to get some help staying in their homes. The Baker Administration has announced the establishment of a new rental and mortgage assistance program to help cushion the impact of COVID-19 on renters and home owners throughout the state.

“Massachusetts is only as strong as each of its 351 cities and towns,” Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito said in announcing the program

The new the Emergency Rental and Mortgage Assistance Program will expand access to emergency housing resources, and will be funded by $20 million from the  Cares Act and other federal resources. Starting July 1 families will be eligible to access assistance through a variety of agencies, including the nine Housing Consumer Education Centers, LHAND and the Central Massachusetts Housing Alliance, among others.
