(undated) — A mysterious illness which is killing large numbers of birds in other parts of the country does not appear to be having the same effect in Massachusetts. That from the state Division of Fisheries and Wildlife, which has announced that biologists monitoring reports of sick and dead birds have found no evidence of “large-scale mortality events” among Massachusetts birds. Environmental leaders, however, have renewed their call for residents to take down or remove backyard bird feeders to reduce the possibility that such contagion may occur in the future.
