Staff Report

(Massachusetts) The Massachusetts Department of Public Health admitted Thursday that COVID-19 deaths were previously counted as those who had the cause of death listed as COVID-19 but also those who had been diagnosed with the disease in the last 60 days of their death. The new method of counting deaths reduces the number of days since being diagnosed with the disease from 60 to 30. The change is expected t reduce the number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 by nearly 4,000.
