(undated) — There are indications that the drought problem is improving in Massachusetts, but not necessarily here in the western region. State environmental officials say while there has been drought improvement in the northeastern and southeastern sections of the commonwealth, much of the west including the Connecticut River Valley remains in a Level One, or mild drought condition. Residents are still being asked to conserve water use whenever possible until the situation improves.
