(GREENFIELD)–It’s official: golf is back in Massachusetts. The state is allowing golf courses to finally open, but with a set of restrictions aimed at stemming the spread of the coronavirus.
While players will be able to “hit the links”, golf carts and caddies will be prohibited. Push carts may be used, but otherwise, players will need to carry their own bags. All golfers must maintain proper physical distancing of at least 6 feet at all times. No more than four players can play together at one time. There must be a 15 minute time span between tee times. Golfers must remain in their vehicles until 15 minutes prior to their tee time, and must return to their vehicle immediately following their round. Sharing of clubs is prohibited, as is rentals of clubs.
Course facilities, such as the clubhouse, locker rooms, pro shop, restaurants, and other on-site facilities will remain closed. Putting greens, driving ranges, and chipping areas will be closed, and flagsticks must remain in holes. Bunker rakes will be removed, and ball washers will be either covered or removed. All golf facilities must have adequate and readily available hand sanitizer.
