(undated) – Opioid overdoses continue to be a problem in Massachusetts. New data from the state Department of Public Health indicates that opioid overdoses have taken a sharp tick upward this year from 2020. An estimated 21 more people died of overdoses in the first nine months of this year compared to the same period in 2020. The report comes on the heels of a warning from area health officials regarding the presence of street marijuana which could be laced with fentanyl, which was apparently discovered in Springfield and nearby Connecticut.
