(Boston, MA) This afternoon Governor Charlie Baker gave an update on the pandemic preparedness of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

“Being prepared for every scenario is critical,” said Baker during the press conference.

Baker said last Spring the surge forced the temporary closure of elected procedures at hospitals across Massachusetts. During the second surge, field hospitals will once again be erected to accommodate more patients. The location of these hospitals will depend on where there is space and where the need is, he said. More details will be available later this week.

Baker blamed the spike in cases on people letting their guard down regarding COVID-19 safety protocols. Last week, targeted measures to fight COVID-19 were announced that he hopes will help to curb the surge in cases.
