(Greenfield, MA) — Homeless prevention efforts in Franklin and Hampshire counties could soon be getting a funding boost from the state. The recently passed Senate budget includes $422,000 to establish a Safe Havens program in Hampshire and Franklin counties, which will provide shelter and beds to people experiencing homelessness and mental health issues. Another $40,000 would go to a Franklin Regional Council of Governments “rideshare pilot program,” which offers Lyft or Uber rides for social service recipients in Franklin County.
