(undated) — State lawmakers are considering legislation which may create the single largest expansion of voting rights in the commonwealth’s history. The “Votes Act” filed in the Senate yesterday would change the way elections are run in Massachusetts. It would make mail-in voting a permanent feature in all elections, establish same-day voter registration, require cities and towns to offer 2 weeks of early in-person voting, and aims to make it easier for people with disabilities to vote. The Senate is likely to pass the measure, but it has a less certain future in the House, some lawmakers say.
