(Franklin County, MA) The Massachusetts State Police will be stepping up patrols, but they aren’t COVID-19 enforcement patrols. The Massachusetts State Police said the patrols are focusing on impaired drivers, distracted drivers, and other traffic violations.
“The holiday weekend traditionally presents increased opportunities for alcohol consumption,” said Dave Procopio, Director of Media Communications for the Massachusetts State Police.
Sobriety check points will be deployed and additional troops will be used during the holiday weekend. Drivers are encouraged to wear seatbelts, follow traffic laws, and designate a sober driver for holiday travels. Social distancing guidelines are also still in place.
