(TURNERS FALLS) — The Montague Selectboard this week voted to appoint a total of 16 residents to a pair of police advisory groups. One group will deal with equity and use of force, while the second group will be involved with community engagement.
Town Administrator Steven Ellis said the groups will look at policing data and policies as they pertain to Montague.
“The groups will analyze what’s learned and come to some reasonable consensus–and it is a consensus where they can be some dissenting opinions–as they identify what they think the findings are”, Ellis said.
“They will then consider what recommendations they would offer to the Selectboard for its consideration, and how we can continue to grow and evolve to have the best possible services in our community”, Ellis added.
The appointed members will be sworn in at next week’s Selectboard meeting. Each group will include one member of the Selectboard.
