MONTAGUE, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Budget planning for the next fiscal year is beginning for municipalities and for the town of Montague, they’re planning for a tight budget.

At Monday’s Selectboard meeting, Selectboard members and Town Administrator Walter Ramsey discussed requesting department heads to develop two budgets, one for providing level-services and another with a 2% reduction.

With unknown factors such as potential significant health insurance increases in January and beyond, towns like Montague are exploring options like finding a new health insurance provider and working with legislators on rural funding.
