MONTAGUE, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Montague Selectboard met with the Finance Committee and the Capital Improvements Committee Wednesday evening to discuss ten capital projects. The Montague DPW is looking to purchase a ten ton trailer and a ten wheel dump truck to diversify their equipment, allowing them to take care of projects in-house, like paving parking lots and alleyways not covered by Chapter 90 funding. These purchases will assist in other capital projects slated for this budget season, including paving at Hillcrest, the Town Hall parking lot, and the 1st Street alley.
The Town Hall parking lot project is estimated to cost $296,000 as it hasn’t been repaved in over 20 years and will require a full depth reconstruction including the removal of two structures. According to Assistant Town Administrator, Walter Ramsey, a portion of this project may be eligible for Community Development Block Grant funds. The process for applying for those funds is ongoing.
