(Montague, MA) – Montague’s Town Administrator says it’s time for that community to start a discussion regarding police policy and race relations
Town Administrator Steve Ellis said two advisory committees created by the Montague Selectboard recently will focus on racial equity in Montague and the use of force by police.
“What really trying to do is explore these questions with engagement with the community to identity any issues that might exist so we can address them,” said Ellis.
While no one incident led to the formation of the committees, Ellis said that every governmental agency, including police, has a certain amount of disconnect with its citizens, and the best way to overcome that disconnect is through positive community engagement.
