(Turners Falls, MA)  — Not everyone appears to be thrilled about the new line paintings on Avenue A.

Montague Selectboard Chair Rich Kuklewicz said the board has received a number of phone calls, mostly from older residents, complaining about the narrowness of the new lanes, which were put in place this past week as part of the town’s “Complete Streets” plan.

“I think people were a bit taken aback by it and they let us know,” Kuklewicz said.

The biggest change was the addition of bike lanes on either side of the road, which are a central component of the Complete Streets concept, which is a new state initiative which is being implemented in a number of communities and is being partially funded by grants.
