TURNERS FALLS, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — In sports, 800 of anything is an eye-popping number. For Turners Falls High School softball coach Gary Mullins, it is the latest milestone in an amazing, record-setting career.

Mullins picked up career victory #800 in a 12-0 victory Monday evening over Rising Tide Charter of Plymouth in the MIAA Division 5 Round of 32. The defending state champions advance to the Round of 16.

Madi Liimatainen pitched the first no-hitter of her senior season, striking out 12 and walking just one. Liimatainen struck out the side twice in five innings in the circle.

Offensively, the Thunder scored a single run in the first inning before erupting for five in the second inning and then six more in the fourth to put the game away.

The top-seed and defending state champions will host 17th-seeded Drury in the Round of 16 on Wednesday night at 7:00.
