GILL, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Several Franklin County towns have recently approved installing outdoor naloxone cabinets, or better known as the brand name Narcan.
The outdoor boxes allow the public to discreetly access Narcan that they can keep in their homes, in an effort by the Franklin Regional Council of Governments to normalize and destigmatize the use of Narcan.
The Gill Selectboard has approved the installation of two boxes, one at the Town Hall and another at a local business. Bernardston, Charlemont, and Ashfield have also approved the installation of two boxes and is working with the public safety departments to determine best locations, while Colrain and Buckland are expected to approve boxes in the near future.
