On Sunday, March 29 residents may have witnessed the National Guard at the Ashfield Police Station. While alarming, the Ashfield Police Department released a statement calming public fears.

”This was a scheduled delivery of personal protective equipment, also known as PPE, for the police and fire. There is no emergency,” Ashfield PD explained on their Facebook page.

On March 19, Governor Baker activated the National Guard to support the Covid-19 response in Massachusetts. While scary, the authorization will strengthen the supply chain resources available to the Commonwealth and state agencies will receive support in their requests for equipment, logistics, and warehousing.
