GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The city of Greenfield’s new Finance Director is officially on the job. Stephen Nembirkow began serving in the role back on Monday. Nembirkow has worked in government and financial leadership positions for over 25 years, including with Greenfield Public Schools.

Nembirkow most recently served as Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations at Weston Public Schools.

“Stephen’s extensive experience overseeing municipal financial operations will be a great asset to the city,” said Mayor Ginny Desorgher. “His familiarity with the region and attention to detail are tremendous. I look forward to collaborating with him on our city’s financial practices.”

“I am excited to once again serve the residents of Greenfield and return to Franklin County,” said Nembirkow. “I hope to bring a sense of stability, value, and efficiency to the position.”

Former Finance Director Stella Chan resigned from her position, effective December 2.
