(Greenfield, MA) Randall Austin was sworn in yesterday as Greenfield’s new Chief Assessor. Previously, the department was led by Assistant Assessor Sandra Gradoia since the departure of Chief Assessor Kimberly Mew in December 2021.
Austin previously worked in Easthampton as the Principal Assessor and he comes with more than two decades of municipal assessing experience in Western Massachusetts.
“In these times of rising property and auto values, he has the knowledge and skills to ensure assessments are fair and equitable,” says Mayor Wedegartner of Chief Assessor Austin.
Chief Assessors work to value and record real estate and personal property, which are reviewed every five years to be certified for fair market value, equitability, and uniformity by the state Department of Revenue.
