GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) —  According to a statement from the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, a man from Keene, New Hampshire was arrested during a traffic stop in Greenfield on June 3rd by an investigator with the Northwestern District Attorney’s Anti-Crime Task Force.

22 year-old Thomas Evans was charged with carrying a firearm without a license; possession of a large capacity firearm; possession of a large capacity feeding device; possession of ammunition, and trafficking in cocaine after discovering he had in the vehicle a loaded handgun equipped with a high-capacity magazine as well as additional ammunition and approximately 79 grams of cocaine.

The Northwestern District Anti-Crime Task Force includes 18 investigators from 16 law enforcement agencies: the State Police Detective Unit, the Hampshire and Franklin County Sheriff’s Offices, and police departments in Athol, Belchertown, Bernardston, Deerfield, Easthampton, Erving, Greenfield, Hadley, Montague, Northampton, Northfield, Orange, and South Hadley. Working with specially-assigned Assistant District Attorneys, the task force identifies, investigates, and prosecutes illegal narcotics offenses, unlawful firearms offenses, gang-related crimes, human trafficking, and other organized criminal activities. It also conducts street-level enforcement operations to improve the safety and quality of life in local communities.
