GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — This Wednesday, Greenfield’s Appointments and Ordinances Committee will be reviewing a proposal for an ordinance establishing an Opioid Use and Prevention Commission as submitted by Councilor Marianne Bullock.
The Commission’s purpose would be to study the opioid crises at local, regional, and state levels and make recommendations on how the city should utilize funding, programs and services to address opioid use, prevention, and overdose.
Among the five-person membership of the committee, it is proposed to include members with opioid and substance use disorder experience along with city officials.
The Appointments and Ordinances Committee will also review the proposal to update the city’s recycling ordinance. According to DPW Director, Marlo Warner, the ordinance has not been updated in many years and will need review for the transition to single stream recycling.
