FRANKLIN COUNTY, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Franklin Regional Council of Government worked in collaboration with state and federal offices to help bring an upgraded, interoperable radio system to emergency responders in Franklin County, one of the first in the state to fully transition to the modernized digital system that is designed to adapt to future digital communications.
The public safety radios and installation of the system was paid for with a $3 million gran from the Executive Office of Technology Services and Security, along with $450,000 in USDA funding for firefighter pagers.
The system is being rolled out statewide and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
