GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A sizable crowd braved gray skies, snow showers, and cold temperatures for the annual Greenfield Veterans Day Parade and ceremony.
The parade featured the Greenfield High School marching band as well as several area veterans’ organizations. Vietnam veteran Gary Bourbeau of Gill was the keynote speaker.
“We served during the earliest years of our adult lives, and we grew up quickly,” said Bourbeau. “We all have a different story to tell and yet we share the same significant experience of answering our country’s call and wearing the uniform, whether green, blue, or white.”
The ceremony was highlighted by the unveiling and dedication of a new addition to Veterans’ Mall: a new memorial commemorating post-Vietnam War veterans.
