(Greenfield, MA) At Wednesday’s meeting the Greenfield Appointments and Ordinance Committee recommended to make no change to Section 7-7 which covers Citizen Petition. This follows the same recommendation that the citizens voted for in November with a “No” on referendum question one in a vote of 1485 to 1322. Question one asked to change Section 7-8 Citizen Referendum. The vote left 7-8 “as is” in November’s citywide election.
The Appointments and Ordinance Committee has been reviewing the Charter Review Committees Report and making recommendations to the full council at monthly meetings over the past year, working on all sections and subsections 1 – 7 of the Greenfield City Charter. The recommendations then go to the city attorney for review, the mayor for review and then voted on by the full council. The final changes will then be sent to the State legislature for review and approval.
