(Belchertown, MA) – According to an official press release from the office of Northwestern District Attorney David E. Sullivan:

Jacob A. Delisle, 20, of Northampton was arraigned today, March 24th, in Eastern Hampshire District Court in connection with the hit-and-run incident on Monday at UMass Amherst which left a student, 20, badly injured. Delisle was arrested at 7 pm Wednesday at his home and held on $20,000 cash bail overnight. He was charged with trespassing, misleading a witness, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, crosswalk violation, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in personal injury.

Delisle was represented by Greenfield Defense Attorney Jeffrey Brown and pleaded not guilty before Judge Bruce Melikan to the charges. The Commonwealth is represented by Northwestern First Assistant District Attorney Steven Gagne. Both Gagne and Brown reccomended Delisle be released upon $5,000 cash bail with the condition he not drive and stay away from the UMass Amherst campus. 

The name victim of the hit-and-run has not been released yet, but they remain hospitalized at Baystate Medical Center and their condition remains unknown. 

The incident is being investigated by the UMass Police Department, Massachusetts Police Detectives attached to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, State Police Crime Scene Services Section and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
