(Northampton, MA) The Northampton Police Department is warning residents of a scam being conducted using the department’s non-emergency number, which is (413) 587-1100. The caller asks the victim for a gift card in exchange for clearing up warrants related to the supposed theft of the victim’s identity. Northampton Police do not ask for money over the phone to clear up warrants or a problem and do not ask for gift cards.
