NORTHFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Northfield residents approved the acquisition of a new site for the Northfield EMS 138 to 62 at Wednesday’s Special Town Meeting. The new site in Bernardston could adequately house all three ambulances and have room leftover for the Highway Department vehicles. The $2.1 million moving project will not affect the tax rate according to the Northfield Finance Committee Chair, Dan Campbell.
The citizen’s petition was voted down at the meeting. Northfield resident Brian Bordner petitioned, with over 100 signatures, to remove the position of Town Administrator, delegating responsibilities to the Selectboard and adding an administrative assistant with a maximum salary of $75,000.
The three housekeeping articles on the warrant were all approved by residents.
