(Northfield, MA) The town of Northfield has secured a $48,000 grant to partially fund a new ambulance from the USDA’s competitive Emergency Rural Health Care Grant program. The town received the maximum award possible which will cover 15% of the over $300,000 total costs for the ambulance. The new ambulance is expected to arrive in June of this year by Greenwood Emergency Vehicles. Northfield EMS calls increased by almost 100% between 2019 and 2022 and the town has expanded their response zone to cover Bernardston, Erving, and Gill.
